Dashboard 3.0

Play Hide and Save

Configure Dashboard for different users by clicking on the Customize button (wrench icon). You can hide the extended screens and the program menus. Save the configuration for the user(s) in question by choosing File/Save As... and give the new configuration an appropriate name, such as kids.cfg. This displays the icons to their most commonly used applications and hides mission-critical applications.

Quick Print

Take advantage of Dashboard's drag-and-drop printing and faxing. Open, click on a document or spreadsheet file, and drag it onto the printer or faxing application in Dashboard's Printer Manager.

Let's Grab Launch

Launch an application or document with drag-and-drop. Open Explorer or File Manager, click on either an executable file such as WordPerfect's WPWIN.EXE or a datafile such as a Lotus WordPro document, and drag it to a Dashboard Extended Screen. The application or datafile will launch in the chosen screen.

Stay in the Middle

Move applications from one Dashboard Extended Screen to the next without leaving the middle screen. Click on the application in the other screen and drag it to its new location. You can even do this if the application is running minimized in the Extended Screen. Simply click on the tiny square that represents the minimized application icon and drag it to the desired location.

See Better in the Dark

Change the background color and pattern in order to see your minimized icons better in your Dashboard Extended Screens. Click on the Customize button (the wrench icon) and choose Extended Screen as an item to customize. A dialog box will appear on the right side with options to change the Extended Screen backgrounds. Choose a dark color to make the tiny icons more visible. Click Done to accept the changes.

Break Out of Your Shell

Make Dashboard your Windows 3.1 shell instead of Program Manager. Click on the Customize button (the wrench icon) and, under Preferences, choose Use Dashboard as Windows shell. Select Done and Dashboard will prompt you to restart Windows. Choose Yes. Dashboard will now be your Windows shell until you change it.

Take Your Apps to Task(bar)

Stay close to your applications while using Dashboard and Windows 95 simultaneously. Snap off the Dashboard taskbar and place it along the top of your screen. With the Dashboard and Windows 95 taskbars running along the top and bottom of the screen, you can reach your applications in an instant.

Bet With Your Virtual Head, Not Over It

Keep track of your virtual winnings and losings as you play the Poker and Slots game that ships with Dashboard. Right-click on the slot machine and choose Show Graph. You'll see a graph that will track your winnings and losses. To choose other games, right-click on the Slots game and choose either Poker or Puzzle.
